Dear Student,
When I walk into your school, I sometimes wonder what is going on behind your eyes. I see you laughing with your friends, scrolling through your phone, maybe pretending not to listen during chapel (school assembly). But sometimes, I catch that quiet look—the one that says you’re tired, lonely, or trying to fill a void that nothing seems to reach.
And I get it. Life can feel so uncertain, especially when things around you are out of your control. There’s the traces of war, stress, expectations, and it sometimes can be a lot. But I want you to know something: you’re not meant to face it alone. Life will always bring struggles, with or without God. But with Him, you have a Friend, one who’s deeply involved in your story.
I pray for you often. I tell God, “If I love them this much, how much more do You love them? Guide them to Yourself.” Because He really does love you more than you can imagine.
When I speak in chapels, I sometimes get nervous. I hope that what I say lands somewhere in your heart. And then I hear about a message I shared that helped some students during the war. During such times, I whisper to myself, “This is why I do what I do.”
And when I think about how I want you to remember me one day, I hope it’s as someone who helped you see God more clearly, maybe even made you laugh a little, because believe it or not, God has a sense of humor too!
With love and hope,
A Youth Worker
