A Tree Planted By the River

Reflections from this Year’s YFC Lebanon Annual Staff Conference

In late September, the YFC Lebanon team gathered for our annual staff conference around a vital theme: Fruitfulness.

Our main speaker sessions invited us to pause and reflect on what true biblical fruitfulness actually looks like in youth ministry. As speaker Maher Al Jamal shared, fruit is simply “the visible expression of an invisible reality.” Drawing from Psalm 1, he reminded us that much of a tree’s growth happens underground in the dark, unseen space where roots painfully push deep into the soil. For YFC Lebanon, staying grounded where God has intentionally planted us across Lebanon is what enables us to withstand tough seasons and bear fruit in due time.

These reflections directly mirror our core commitment to evangelism and discipleship. As Al Jamal noted, a tree never eats its own fruit; it exists to nourish others. Everything we build internally, including our teamwork and unity, ultimately serves to nourish the young people of Lebanon. Furthermore, healthy fruit contains seeds for the future; our prayer is seeing the youth we disciple step up to reach their own peers, mobilizing the local church alongside us.

As we step into this coming year, we carry a renewed commitment not just to do more, but to stay deeply rooted in Christ, unified as a team, and faithful to the harvest God has set before us.
